Healthy French Chocolate Mendiants

Healthy Holiday Desserts

Another favourite from our trip to Europe a few years ago. You can customize this and make it as healthy as possible by choosing at least 85% dark chocolate and not adding anything with added sugar in the toppings. This recipe is very easy to make and takes very little time (excluding the setting time).

Ingredients 

  • 250 g chocolate (85% dark chocolate)
  • 30 almonds
  • 15 raisins or sliced dates
  • 15 dried cranberries or Goji berries
  • 15 pecans half
  • 30 g pistachio nuts

Instructions

  1. Melt the 2/3 of the chocolate in a double boiler and remove from the heat.
  2. Add the rest of the chocolate finely chopped and mix until melted.
  3. In a dry hot pan toast the almonds and hazelnuts for 1 minute.
  4. Create small discs of chocolate using a spoon or a piping bag on a baking sheet with a silicon mat or parchment paper.
  5. Add a mix of nuts and dried fruits as toppings on each disk.
  6. Let set at room temperature and keep in the fridge before serving.
